BLACKWING RETAILER POLICIES AND GUIDELINES

The below policies apply to all Blackwing retailers. If you are not currently a retailer, but are interested in selling Blackwing products, please fill out the form on the Blackwing Retailer Sign-Up Page.

 

Ordering

All authorized resellers may place orders by emailing their wholesale representative. Dee, Abigail, or Annmarie will be happy to assist. If you’re unsure who your rep is, you may email your order to: wholesale@blackwing602.com.

Warehouse Hours

Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Pacific Time).
The warehouse is closed on weekends and major holidays.
Orders typically ship within 5-7 business days after the order is finalized.

Shipping

All shipments are FOB Stockton, CA. Resellers assume responsibility for loss or damage in transit. Blackwing is not liable for incidental, special, or consequential damages.

Documentation

All shipments include a packing slip. Invoices are emailed separately to the address on file. The packing slip and invoice will share the same order number.

Order Requirements

  • Minimum order value: $300
  • Products must be ordered in case pack multiples (MOQ: sets of 6).
  • Example: Pencils must be ordered in quantities of 6, 12, 18, 24, etc.

Payment Terms

  • Opening orders must be prepaid unless otherwise approved.
  • Net terms may be extended for reorders following a credit check and approval by Blackwing.
  • Accepted payment methods: credit card, check, wire transfer, or PayPal.
  • Past due balances are subject to 1% monthly interest (12% annual rate).

Restrictions on Sales and Use

Resellers may not use any of Blackwing’s registered names in their website URL.

  • Resellers may not alter, customize, or print on Blackwing products or packaging without prior written consent.
  • Blackwing reserves the right to refuse sales to resellers who:
    • Advertise or sell below MSRP
    • Sell products outside of manufacturer packaging (e.g., individual pencils)
    • Sell products on third-party marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Craigslist, etc.

By placing a wholesale order, you authorize Blackwing to request the removal of any unauthorized listings from third-party platforms.

Communication

By accepting these policies, you consent to receive communications from Blackwing regarding new wholesale products and policy updates.

WHOLESALE PRICING UPDATE

Why did prices on Blackwing pencils increase?

We’ve seen significant increases in the cost of materials used across our product line, including California incense-cedar, Japanese graphite, aluminum, and other key components in 2025. The cost of some of these materials have increased 300%. We’ve worked closely with our partners to minimize the impact, but adjustments are necessary to maintain the quality you expect from Blackwing.

What materials are used to make Blackwing pencils?

Genuine California Incense-cedar and premium Japanese graphite have always been and will continue to be the backbone of Blackwing pencils. While most other pencil manufactures have moved to lower-cost alternatives, we remain committed to the materials and craftsmanship that define Blackwing, despite challenges with the economy.

Do these pricing changes affect other products besides pencils?

Yes. Pricing updates have been applied to a range of products, including notebooks, journals, sharpeners, and gift sets - all of which have also seen significant increases in material and production costs.

When does this price change take effect?

New pricing goes into effect on May 9, 2025. All MSRPs in store an online should be updated before then.

What are the qualifications to become an authorized Blackwing retailer?

Blackwing partners with independent retailers with physical store locations that value quality, craftsmanship and storytelling. Our products are commonly found in bookstores, coffee shops, museums, stationery stores, boutiques and similar establishments. If your store aligns with this ethos, you are encouraged to apply.

How do I sign-up to become a retailer?

Fill out the form here. A member of the wholesale team will review your application and contact you with either additional questions or the next steps.

Can I be a retailer if I'm outside of the U.S.?

We currently have distributors in 8 international countries around the world. To get started, please fill out the Blackwing Retailer form. A member of our U.S. wholesale team or a representative from our international distribution network will follow up with you.

What is the minimum order or reorder requirement?

The minimum order and reorder amount is $300. Items must be ordered in multiples of the case pack.

How do I place a wholesale order?

What are your payment terms?

All orders must be prepaid unless otherwise authorized.

How fast do orders ship?

Wholesale orders usually ship out between 7-10 business days from the time payment is received.

What merchandising solutions does Blackwing offer to retailers?

We have a Blackwing Spinner, Testing Station, and Storyteller to help bring the brand to life in your space. We’d also love to collaborate with you to create a thoughtfully curated Blackwing section in your store. Our products are most impactful when merchandised together - encouraging customers to explore our pencils, notebooks, and accessories as part of an inspiring story that invites them to slow down and create with intention.

What should I do if I receive a damaged product, and does Blackwing accept returns or exchanges?

Blackwing only accepts returns or exchanges for damaged products or products sent in error. If there is an issue with your order, please contact your wholesale representative or email wholesale@blackwing602.com.

Can I sell individual Blackwing pencils?

Blackwing may refuse to sell to any authorized retailer who sells Blackwing products outside the manufacturer’s packaging, including selling pencils individually. Retailers that sell Blackwing pencils by the box find more success, minimize theft and communicate the Blackwing story in its entirety.

Is the Blackwing Audition Pack available for wholesale?

The Blackwing Audition Pack is not available for wholesale. We recommend in its place our best selling gift set, the Pencil Essential Set.
