Blackwing Sessions is an online video series that dives into the stories behind great music. The inaugural episode offered an exclusive look at the recording of jazz musician Christian Tamburr’s album Places, captured exclusive footage inside the studio and got a chance to talk to the musicians about their writing process.

The first LIVE edition of the Blackwing Sessions took place in November of 2012 at Loudville Studios in Marin County, CA. The show celebrated the release of Ted Russell Kamp’s 7th studio album, Night Owl, with a live performance from Ted that was streamed worldwide via Christian Tamburr and jazz super-guitarist Mimi Fox closed out the evening with a special set of their own.

The most heralded episode to date took place in July of 2013 as part of the Blackwing Experience at the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity in Costa Mesa, CA. Acclaimed singer/songwriters Andrew Combs, Willie Watson (Old Crow Medicine Show) and Willy Tea Taylor (Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit) were joined by dobro master Michael Witcher for an intimate three-hour show. The evening featured solo performances and a very special “In the Row” session where all four musicians took the stage to pick, sing and discuss the songwriting process. Proceeds from the show benefited the Blackwing Foundation in support of arts and music education in schools.
